About the OpportunityHays is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected organisation based in Cambridge. Our client is seeking a hands-on and reliable Maintenance Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of their facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving, and being part of a supportive team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of the facilities team, your duties will include:
*Carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs across the site
*Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities
*Assisting external contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently
*Responding to maintenance tickets and resolving issues promptly
*Conducting regular building checks and reporting faults
*Maintaining tools and equipment to a high standard
*Supporting room setups, furniture moves, and operational tasks
*Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and organisational standards
About YouOur client is looking for someone who brings:
*Previous maintenance, caretaking, or practical DIY experience (desirable but not essential)
*A basic understanding of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or general building repairs
*A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills
*A reliable, positive attitude and willingness to learn
*Good communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues and contractors
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
*A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
