Bookkeeper / Office Manager, Harrogate, £35,000
A well-established small business based in central Harrogate is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Office Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial management and office administration of the practice.
This is a long-standing role becoming available due to the relocation of the current postholder. A full handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition. The position is finance-led (80%+), with responsibility for supporting the efficient running of the office.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Bookkeeping
*Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and financial ledgers
*Prepare budgets and monitor expenditure against forecasts
*Raise invoices, process payments, manage client accounts and credit control
*Prepare year-end financial information for external accountants
*Liaise with accountants and respond to financial queries
Office Administration & Management
*Manage the day-to-day running of the office, including answering telephone enquiries
*Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems
*Manage diaries, appointments, and meeting arrangements
*Act as first point of contact for clients and external parties
*Deal with enquiries professionally by phone and email
*Support and improve office procedures and systems
Property / Conveyancing Support
*Assist with administrative aspects of conveyancing matters
*Prepare and manage documentation related to property transactions
*Liaise with solicitors, estate agents, lenders, and clients
Skills & Experience
*Proven experience in bookkeeping and budgeting
*Previous office management or senior administrative experience
*Experience within property, surveying, legal, or conveyancing environments preferred (but not essential)
*Strong IT skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office
Working Hours & Benefits
*Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm
*4 or 4.5 days per week considered after probation/settling-in period
*Supportive handover and established systems in place
