About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable, motivated, and experienced Caretaker to join a well-established site team at a thriving school in Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-run school environment.
You will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, working closely with staff and students to ensure the premises are secure, well maintained, and fully operational.
Working Hours*Term Time: Monday – Friday, 10:30am – 6:30pm (6:00pm finish on Fridays)
*School Holidays: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Key Responsibilities*Assist with the security, opening, and closing of the school site
*Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and health & safety checks
*Support fire safety procedures and emergency protocols
*Prepare rooms and facilities for lessons, events, and examinations
*Monitor contractors and report maintenance issues
*Maintain clean, safe, and orderly external areas
*Engage positively with staff, students, and visitors
The Ideal Candidate*Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, or site support role (school experience desirable)
*Good working knowledge of health & safety procedures
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Basic IT skills
*A proactive, flexible, and team-focused approach
*Able to work confidently around students and staff
