About the Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide vital support to pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 (KS1), and/or Key Stage 2 (KS2). Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, you will help deliver personalised strategies to support children with SEND. Your work will empower pupils to access learning, build confidence, and form positive relationships within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs.
*Assist in planning and delivering tailored interventions aligned with EHCP targets.
*Encourage pupil independence and nurture emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
*Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external specialists to ensure consistent support.
*Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to regular SEN reviews and meetings.
*Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.
*Support with personal care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Candidate Requirements
*Proven experience supporting children with SEN in a school or educational setting.
*A positive, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour management and pupil engagement.
*Strong understanding of SEND conditions such as autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with staff, pupils, and families.
*Experience with personal care is desirable but not essential.
*Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEND training are advantageous.
The pay range advertised is based on employment through an umbrella company.
