Hays Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN primary provision in Preston. The school provides a nurturing, structured and highly individualised learning environment for children with a wide range of additional needs. The team is committed to strong safeguarding practice, collaborative working and supporting pupils’ holistic development.
Your new role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join the school on a maternity cover basis. You will lead a small, well-supported class of pupils with diverse learning needs, delivering an adapted curriculum that enables them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.A committed team of Teaching Assistants will support you daily, helping to maintain routines, deliver interventions and provide personalised support to each pupil.
Key responsibilities
*Deliver engaging, differentiated learning for a Year 6 SEN group
*Adapt planning and curriculum content to meet individual needs
*Lead and collaborate with a skilled and proactive support team
*Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment
*Use trauma-informed and flexible behaviour regulation approaches
*Track progress and contribute to assessments, reviews and reports
*Work closely with families, therapists and external agencies
What you’ll need to succeed
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
*Experience within SEN settings or a strong interest in SEN practice
*A calm, empathetic and flexible teaching style
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
