Transport Planner - Yate About the role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join an established transport team based in Yate. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with previous experience in transport planning and scheduling. Strong geographical knowledge is essential.
Key responsibilities
* Create daily transport plans for timber and sheet material deliveries across the South West region
* Optimise routing for a fleet of rigid vehicles to maximise efficiency and utilisation
* Respond quickly and effectively to changing operational demands and challenges
* Communicate clearly with drivers, hauliers, warehouse teams, sales teams, and customers to ensure reliable service
* Manage re-deliveries, failed deliveries, customer-specific delivery requirements, and returns
* Maintain a strong understanding of HGV operations and load security
* Coordinate vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs
* Ensure compliance with driver hours and working time regulations
About you
* Previous experience in transport planning or scheduling
* Strong geographical knowledge
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Good understanding of transport compliance and operational best practice
