Job Description:
Role: Payroll & Finance Officer
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £27,000pa - £28,500 pa pro-rata
Hours: Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week across 4 or 5 days
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Payroll & Finance Officer to work with our prestigious client based in Harrogate. This particular business has great heritage and is something they really pride themselves on. You will be responsible for managing the full monthly payroll and accounts for our client, working in a small friendly team.
Key Responsibilities of the Payroll & Finance Officer:
*Process monthly payroll accurately using a computerised system, including starters, leavers, contract changes, absences, and statutory payments.
*Administer SSP, SMP, and SPP, providing guidance to employees.
*Advise staff on pay, tax, and National Insurance matters.
*Administer pensions and employee benefit schemes.
*Prepare P60s and manage P11D reporting.
*Submit accurate monthly RTI returns and complete payroll reconciliations.
*Prepare payroll related correspondence, including pay review communications.
*Liaise with the HR Manager to ensure timely payroll updates and resolve queries.
*Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and insurers to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
*Provide cover across finance functions, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, fees, and management accounts.
*Process BACS and bank payments, manage petty cash, and complete banking tasks.
*Reconcile credit cards, additional charges, and cost centres.
*Maintain effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
*Support payroll and pension audits and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
*Review and improve payroll and finance systems and processes as required.
*Maintain accurate payroll and finance records.
Skills and experience required for the role:
*Proven experience managing/ processing end to end payroll
*Strong working knowledge of payroll systems.
*Excellent numeracy skills
*Strong administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
*Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
*Capable of taking full responsibility for own workload and meeting deadlines.
