Cook Manager
Location: Balmoral Road, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD24 7ER
Contract: Permanent | Part-Time
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Hours: 30 hours per week, term-time only, plus 5 INSET days

Salary (FTE): £28,299 – £30,585 per annum (Inner Fringe Allowance included)
Actual Salary: £19,628 – £21,214 per annum
Start Date: March 2026
Closing Date: 11:59pm, 27 February 2026

About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cook Manager to lead the catering provision within a primary school setting in Watford. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is passionate about providing nutritious, high-quality meals and managing a smooth, efficient kitchen operation.
You will be responsible for planning menus, preparing meals, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen regulations. This role offers the chance to make a real difference by supporting the wellbeing of children through healthy, balanced meals.
Key Responsibilities*Managing the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen
*Preparing and serving nutritious meals to a high standard
*Menu planning, ordering supplies, and stock control
*Managing budgets and maintaining cost-effective catering operations
*Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
*Supervising and supporting kitchen staff
*Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment
What We’re Looking For*Previous experience in a Cook Manager or similar catering role
*Strong organisational and leadership skills
*Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and allergen management
*A positive, proactive approach and the ability to work independently
*Experience working in a school or education setting is desirable but not essential
