Job Description:
My client, a thriving commercial business in Braintree, is looking to recruit a temporary to permanent, Part-time Accounts Assistant to help support the finance department by handling day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with reporting. The role is ideal for candidates with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in developing a finance career. This will be a temporary to permanent role as the client will need to work out how many hours will be required during the temping period before committing permanently.
Duties
*Processing purchase invoices and sales invoices
*Matching, batching, and coding invoices
*Reconciling supplier statements and bank accounts
*Handling expenses and petty cash
*Supporting credit control (chasing overdue payments)
*Assisting with month-end tasks (accruals, journals, reconciliations)
*Maintaining accurate financial files and documentation
*Updating spreadsheets and internal finance systems
*Communicating with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
*Assisting the Accountant or Finance Manager with ad-hoc tasks
*Good numerical skills
*Strong attention to detail
*Basic understanding of accounting principles
*Experience with Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables desirable)
*Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
*Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
*Experience with accounting software
*Previous admin or finance experience
