Job Description:
Janitors for GMP
*Location: Greater Manchester Police (Various Locations)
*Job Type: Temporary (2 - 3 months)
*Pay Rate: £13.49 per hour (PAYE)
Greater Manchester Police are looking for 5 Janitors to join their team on a temporary basis for 2 - 3 months. This role involves providing an efficient janitorial service, which includes cleaning, portering, and minor repair works. Candidates must specify their preferred working location upon application.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Perform general portering duties such as moving furniture, receiving store deliveries, and distributing store items.
*Undertake general cleaning duties including grounds and car park maintenance, carpet shampooing, wall cleaning, and high-level cleaning.
*Carry out basic maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs, fixing curtain rails, and small areas of painting and redecorating.
*Ensure all safety precautions are taken when using equipment and materials, maintain equipment in safe working condition, and report any faults.
*Provide cover for colleagues and assist with training new cleaners/janitors as requested.
*In winter, undertake gritting of car parks and paths and set up rooms for seminars and other events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Previous experience in janitorial, caretaking, handyman, or portering roles within a medium to large scale organisation.
*Experience in carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs.
*Knowledge of basic cleaning equipment, materials, and methods.
*Good understanding of the English language, both verbal and written.
*Physical fitness to carry out demanding tasks including lifting, loading, and unloading.
*Capable of basic recording/checking functions; training will be provided.
*Understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly around manual handling and COSHH.
*Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with insurance for business purposes.
*Good attendance and performance record.
*Full GMP vetting will be required for this position
