Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupils at our partner autism specialist school in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
About the Role As a 1:1 Educational Assistant, you will work closely with primary-aged pupils, offering consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. Your role will include:
* Building a positive, trusting relationship that helps the pupil feel safe, understood, and confident.

* Supporting the pupil’s emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.

* Breaking down tasks, offering reassurance, and encouraging independence at a pace that suits the pupil.

* Using proactive, autism-informed and trauma-aware strategies to help the pupil navigate challenges.

* Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives well-rounded support.

* Helping the pupil develop social communication skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school community.

What We’re Looking For * A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young children.

* GCSE English & Maths (grade C/level 4 or above).

* Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs is highly desirable.

* An understanding that behaviour is a form of communication and a commitment to positive, relationship-based support.

* Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.

* Experience in education, youth work, care, or similar settings is beneficial, though passion and commitment are equally valued.

Role Details * Hours:
* Mon-Tue: 08:30-16:30

* Wed-Thu: 08:30-16:00

* Fri: 08:30-15:00


* Contract: Term-time only / Temp-to-Perm

* Pay: From £14 per hour

* Location: Lyndhurst, Hampshire

Requirements * Right to work in the UK

* Enhanced Child Barred List DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

* References covering the last 24 months
