IntroductionOur client is a dynamic privately owned group of companies of £650m T/O with diverse business interest including Multi Site Retail, Tech / SaaS, Manufacturing Property Development coupled with wider business investments
As part of the Groups continued expansion and diversification, Nenebrook Search have been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a high calibre Group CFO
This position will be a key member to the Group Board setting Group strategy whilst driving growth, improvement and diversification.
Role SummaryThe Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial management, strategic planning, and financial reporting of the organisation at a group level.
The CFO will provide robust leadership to the finance function, ensuring sound financial governance, compliance, and the delivery of financial objectives in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities*Member of the Group Board and its subsidiaries of 25+ Companies.
*Guide and mentor a Group Function of 80 people, including 6 direct reports fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
*Lead the group’s financial strategy, planning, and analysis to support sustainable growth and profitability.
*Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and capital allocation.
*Ensure timely and accurate group financial reporting in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
*Develop and implement robust financial controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance policies.
*Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulatory authorities, banks.
*Management of relationships with Banks to include reviewing and improving RCF to support diversification strategy
*Drive financial efficiency and cost optimisation across the group’s business units.
*Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team,
*Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate finance activities, including due diligence and integration.
*Provide strategic advice to the Board and executive team on financial matters and business planning.
*Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying opportunities and risks to the group’s financial health.
Key Requirements*Qualified accountant, Ideally Big 4 Trained (ACA Qualified)
*5-10 Years PQE ideally operating in senior financial leadership roles, preferably in a group or multi-entity environment.
*Proven track record in strategic financial planning, control, and reporting at a senior level.
*Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
*Expert knowledge of accounting standards, corporate governance, tax, and regulatory frameworks.
*Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
*Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
*High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical standards.
*Advanced IT and financial systems skills.
Desirable Attributes*Experience in Multi Site Retail, Property Development Industries or Company group structures / Private Equity with a diverse business portfolio
*Track record of successful change management and business transformation.
Reporting StructureThe Group CFO reports directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is a key participant in Board and executive committee meetings.
Location and TravelMy client has a wide geographical presence via the various Group companies and this position will require some requirement to travel across the UK on a monthly / quarterly basis.
As such those based in central England between London and Birmingham and likely to be best positioned.
RemunerationAn attractive executive remuneration package will with a basic salary up to £250,000 Coupled with Bonus, Car and executive benefits
