Job Description:
Position: Process Development Scientist
Reports to: Head of Process Development
Hours of Work: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Biotechnology company based in Oxfordshire that develops solid-dose vaccines formulated from a wide range of vaccine types. These solid-dose formulations are designed to be fridge-free, offering significant advantages in global distribution by removing or greatly reducing the need for cold-chain storage
Responsibilities and duties
*Perform laboratory experiments to optimise the formulation of a wide range of vaccines into thermostable solid-dose formats.
*Plan, execute, document, and report scientific work to support the development of robust, scalable manufacturing processes.
*Analyse and interpret formulation, stability, and immunogenicity data, generating protocols, technical documents, and project reports.
*Support solid-dose batch manufacturing activities for internal programmes and external partner projects.
*Collaborate effectively with colleagues across formulation, analytics, engineering, and manufacturing groups.
*Proactively share experimental findings to advance solid-dose vaccine development and process improvement.
*Work within a regulated quality system, ensuring complete traceability and compliance in all documentation and workflows.
*Follow Health & Safety guidelines and promote safe laboratory practices, particularly when handling biological and vaccine materials.
Qualifications and Skills
*BSc/BEng degree in relevant science/engineering
*Relevant experience in the formulation and process development of solid dosage forms
*Minimum of 2 year’s lab-based experience in an R&D environment.
*GMP experience is desirable
*Experience in manufacturing processes such as powder blending and tableting is highly desirable
