Protecting what matters, together
At Macfarlane Packaging we protect what matters - our people, our customers, our communities and the environment. With over 75 years of heritage, we combine stability with a forward-thinking, continuous improvement culture. You’ll join a supportive, team-focused workplace where you can build a long-term career and make a real impact.
Logistics Supervisor role
We are looking for a hands-on Logistics Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of our Plymouth site. You will lead by example on the warehouse floor, supervising a small team of warehouse colleagues, drivers and occasional agency staff, while working closely with the Logistics Manager to keep operations running smoothly.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same - from goods in and stock control to dispatch and delivery planning. Customer service, efficiency and safety are at the heart of everything we do.
Key responsibilities
*Supervise daily warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and on time.
*Support and motivate the team, addressing performance issues and encouraging a positive, productive culture.
*Oversee goods in, checking deliveries, resolving discrepancies and ensuring correct storage.
*Coordinate picking, loading and dispatch activities to meet customer delivery expectations.
*Manage operational paperwork and system accuracy to maintain stock integrity.
*Plan and optimise delivery routes using Paragon software to ensure cost-effective scheduling.
*Carry out stock checks and audits, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
*Work closely with Sales and other departments to meet customer delivery requirements.
*Promote high standards of customer service and resolve issues promptly.
*Ensure full compliance with company procedures and health and safety standards
What you will bring
Essential
*At least two years’ experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
*Previous team leader or supervisory experience within a warehouse setting.
*Proven reliability in a goods in/out or distribution-focused role.
*Strong understanding of warehouse health and safety and safe manual handling.
*Good communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
*Basic maths and English skills suitable for stock control and paperwork accuracy.
*Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance or Bendi essential - training can be provided on the other).
*Flexible, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
Desirable
*Experience working closely with internal departments such as Sales or Purchasing.
*Formal training or qualifications in supervision, leadership or health and safety.
*Experience handling a wide variety of product lines.
*Experience in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
*Familiarity with warehouse or route planning systems such as Paragon.
What you will get
We offer a competitive salary, bonus opportunities and a flexible benefits package which can include:
*25 days holiday rising to 27 with service, plus bank holidays.
*Annual holiday purchase scheme.
*Contributory pension scheme.
*Free on-site parking.
*Employee assistance programme and wellbeing support.
*Training, development and genuine progression opportunities.
*Employee discount schemes and mobile phone discounts.
*Health and dental cover options for qualifying roles.
*Enhanced family-friendly policies, long service awards and charitable giving schemes.
