Job Description:
The Role
We’re seeking a Payroll Business Partner to lead our payroll team and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for employees and supported personal assistants. You’ll manage staff, oversee payroll processes, maintain systems, and provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
*Manage and develop Payroll Officers to maintain high performance and accuracy.
Payroll Operations
*Oversee processing of starters, leavers, changes, and additional payments.
*Review payroll calculations, investigate anomalies, and ensure amendments are completed.
*Produce mid-month and final payroll reports and manage BACS submissions.
*Process payments for brokerage customer accounts including salaries, HMRC, and pensions.
*Complete month-end reconciliations and identify system or process issues.
Advice & Support
*Provide guidance on PAYE, NI, auto-enrolment, and payroll policies.
*Liaise with HMRC and statutory bodies when required.
Reporting & Compliance
*Issue statutory documents (P45s, P60s, payslips) on time.
*Prepare and submit external reports to pension and statutory bodies.
*Deliver internal payroll reports to agreed deadlines.
*Complete annual returns (e.g., P11D, Class 1A NI) and year-end processes.
Systems & Processes
*Work with software providers on updates and testing.
*Maintain payroll system configuration and ensure compliance with changing legislation.
*Improve processes and develop clear policies and templates.
Training
*Organise and deliver payroll training for staff and customers.
*Support creation of training materials and review participant feedback.

*Strong payroll management experience
*Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation
*Confident team leader with strong communication skills
*Analytical, detail-focused, and proactive in improving processes
