Orka Financial is recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor join their clients finance team based in Reading. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end UK payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery while remaining fully compliant with UK legislation. This is a hands-on role, combining day-to-day payroll processing with supervision of a small payroll team.
Key Responsibilities*Oversee and actively process end-to-end UK payroll, including:
*Starters, leavers, and changes
*Overtime, allowances, bonuses, and deductions
*Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, pensions (auto-enrolment), and statutory payments
*Supervise, support, and coach a small payroll team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively
*Review and approve payroll outputs, reconciliations, and variance checks
*Act as the main escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
*Pension files and statutory reports
*Year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds
*Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and procedures
*Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and third-party payroll vendors as required
*Support payroll audits and internal reviews
Skills & Experience*Proven experience supervising or senior-level experience in UK payroll
*Strong hands-on experience with full end-to-end payroll processing
*In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments)
*Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team
Desirable Experience*Payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent)
*Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
