Building Surveyor

Join the Capital Programmes & Procurement service in Manchester, a key player in the city’s development, ensuring that all projects are high-quality, safe, inclusive, and sustainable. We are currently seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Minor Works Team within the Capital Programmes Division. This role is crucial in delivering a variety of construction, repair, and refurbishment projects valued between £2k and £4m.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
*Lead the delivery of construction contracts from commencement to completion, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
*Develop and review project requirements with internal clients, creating work programmes that achieve cost and quality efficiencies.
*Provide specialist services including Fire Risk Assessment and Principal Designer roles.
*Offer expertise in building surveying, mechanical and electrical design services, structural design, cost & contract management, and Construction Design Management (CDM) compliance.
*Utilise AutoCAD for designing and have a strong understanding of building and planning legislation, CDM Regulations, and current Building Contracts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*BSc in Building Surveying or a similar RICS-accredited Bachelor’s degree.
*Competence in analysing building defects and specifying building works.
*Proficiency in AutoCAD and a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation.
*Familiarity with CDM Regulations and Building Contracts such as JCT, PSPC, and NEC3/4 TSC and ECC.
*Ability to manage and administer construction contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
