Finance Manager
Flexible Hybrid Working
Location: Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Salary: £45,000 – 50,000 per annum

StormX Recruitment is working with a growing business to recruit a Finance Manager on a full-time, hybrid basis. This is a hands-on role focused on month-end close, management reporting, AP oversight, and strengthening financial controls.
The company are forward thinking, tech savvy and keen to recruit a candidate open to promoting continual system improvement and efficiencies.
Role purpose
You will take ownership of the monthly management information (MI) pack and month-end close, oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensure accurate journal posting and balance sheet integrity, and help strengthen finance processes, controls, and compliance.
Key responsibilities
*Own the month-end close timetable.
*Produce and take full ownership of the monthly MI pack (P&L).
*Provide clear, insightful commentary on key movements.
*Ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting.
*Manage the Accounts Payable team.
*Ensure accurate invoice processing and query resolution.
*Oversee supplier reconciliations and aged creditor management.
*Drive process improvements and automation.
*Prepare and review month-end journals.
*Manage intercompany reconciliations where required.
*Maintain audit-ready documentation and support queries.
*Design and implement finance policies and procedures.
*Strengthen internal controls and approval processes.
*Lead initiatives to improve reporting timelines and accuracy.
*Support external audit and controls testing.
*Prepare VAT and CIS returns.
People management
*Manage AP team and relationships.
*Build strong relationships with budget holders.
*Present MI and explain financial drivers and actions.
Profile
*Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
*Strong month-end and management reporting background.
*Working knowledge of Power BI.
*Solid understanding of journals and balance sheet control.
*Proven experience improving finance processes and controls.
