Design & Technology Teacher
Location: Darlington, County Durham
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: ASAP
A Good-rated secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate, motivated, and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join their supportive DT department as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to engage and inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop creativity, technical ability, and confidence when working with a wide range of materials and tools.
The Role * Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, with the ability to cover areas such as resistant materials, product design, engineering, graphics, or systems (depending on your specialism)
* Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages innovation, practical skill development, and independent thinking
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support
* Monitor progress, assess learning, and provide meaningful feedback to support student development
* Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring they feel confident and well prepared
* Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the DT department
* Support enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, competitions, or design-based projects
Requirements * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Experience teaching Design & Technology at KS3 and KS4
* Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both practical and theoretical content
* Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to raising standards
* A proactive approach to maintaining high health and safety standards in workshop environments
