Job Description:
I am supporting a not-for-profit organisation with an excellent reputation, clear values, and purpose. They are looking for a hands-on, technically strong Head of Finance to take ownership of a critical function and shape it for the future.
This is not a "sit back and supervise" role. The Head of Finance will be operationally credible, comfortable in the detail, and equally confident stepping back to re-engineer, modernise and future-proof the finance function. You’ll inherit a stable, capable team and will be expected to lead them visibly, proactively and collaboratively.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Procurement and Estates, the Head of Finance will play a pivotal role in delivering the organisation’s financial strategy, acting as a trusted business partner to SLT peers, and ensuring strong financial stewardship across the charity.
What you’ll bring as Head of Finance
*Strong technical finance expertise, with the credibility to lead from the front
*A proven track record of improving, re-engineering or scaling finance functions
*Experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams
*A proactive, solutions-focused mindset – you spot issues early and act
*The confidence and emotional intelligence to build trusted relationships at senior level
*A visible, values-led leadership style with a long-term view on talent and succession
What you’ll do
*Operationalise the charity’s financial strategy and safeguard its financial assets
*Lead delivery of the Annual Business Plan from a finance perspective
*Ensure a robust financial control and reporting environment
*Own budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
*Oversee a finance and money management team of circa 30, with 4 direct reports
*Act as system owner for financial platforms, driving efficiency and digital improvement
*Deputise for the Director of Finance, Procurement and Estates when required
What is on offer:
*£70,000-£72,000
*Remote working- will need to be Northwest-based for occasional travel.
*Ability to work a 9-day fortnight
*Generous annual leave
*Excellent culture
*Liverpool based hub
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who wants to make a genuine difference in a values-driven organisation – while still enjoying flexibility, trust and work-life balance.
