Job Description:
Teaching Assistant – EYFS / KS1 (SEN Support)
Working in Partnership with a Wonderful Mainstream Primary School in Crewe
Start Date: ASAP
Astro Education is proud to be working in close partnership with a warm, inclusive and supportive mainstream primary school in Crewe to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, nurturing and committed to supporting young children with additional needs within a mainstream school setting.
About the Role & Children
You will be supporting a small group of approximately 10 children, from Reception to Year 2, all of whom have significant developmental delay.
Some children are pre-verbal, and several present with Autism. The children are taught within a carefully structured environment led by a class teacher, supported by two Teaching Assistants (this role being one of them) and a Welfare Assistant.
Although this is a mainstream school, the provision is calm, well-resourced and thoughtfully organised to meet the children’s individual needs while remaining closely connected to the wider school community.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
*Support children 1:1 and in small groups
*Help develop communication, interaction and early learning skills
*Support emotional regulation, routines and transitions
*Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
*Create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment
*Support personal care where required, always with dignity and respect
*Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
*Has experience working with EYFS / KS1 children
*Has experience of, or a strong interest in, supporting children with Autism and developmental delay
*Is calm, patient, flexible and emotionally attuned
*Understands the importance of consistency, routine and relationship-based practice
*Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively
Experience in SEN, Autism or Early Years is highly desirable, but attitude, empathy and commitment are equally important.
Why Work with Astro Education?
At Astro Education, we do things differently.
*Ethical, transparent recruitment
*Genuine school-led partnerships
*Support from an experienced, education-led team
*Long-term placements where possible
