Job Description:
We are seeking a PIP 1 Accredited Investigator to join our dedicated Investigative Management Unit (IMU). This role is ideal for a former police officer or police staff with investigative experience who is skilled in handling volume and priority crime investigations. The successful candidate will place the victim at the centre of all decisions and actions, ensuring thorough and victim-focused investigations.

Experience: Due to the short nature of the role, candidates must have recent relevant experience within the last 3–5 years and be able to hit the ground running.
Vetting: Must have a valid vetting
Office-based working only
Additional Information
Full-time hours (core business hours: 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm, Monday–Friday) Condensed hours may be considered later in the process (minimum 4 days per week) No shift work; overtime may be available but not guaranteed
Vetting Requirements: Current CTC clearance is essential for immediate deployment must be still valid or used within the last 6 months. Candidates with existing (valid) vetting from any UK police force (e.g., Warwickshire Police, Met Police) will be prioritised, as vetting can be transferred.
Day-to-day of the role
Conduct investigations into Tier 1 offences within the IMU remit, focusing on cases with a victim, no identified suspect, and viable lines of enquiry.
Utilise various investigative tools and methods, including CCTV review, to identify suspects and gather crucial evidence.
Prepare comprehensive handover packages for the responsible sector/hub to progress cases and minimise the risk of prosecution reaching statutory time limits or reoffending.
Ensure closure of cases where no suspect is identified after all reasonable lines of enquiry have been exhausted.
Maintain high standards of victim contact management, providing initial contact within 24 hours of the crime being tasked to IMU and follow-up contact every 24 days.
Perform desk-based investigations, update investigations on the system, order and review CCTV, and manage property records.
Travel as necessary to meet victims, collect CCTV, and transport items for analysis.
Required Skills & Qualifications
PIP Level 1 or 2 Accreditation is essential.
Previous experience as a police officer or in a police staff investigative role.
Competency in statement taking, with CPD in this area highly desirable.
Proficient in using investigative databases and systems.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with victims, witnesses, and other stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain high levels of organisation and accuracy
