Reed is currently recruiting for a Buyer / Materials Team Leader to join a leading family run engineering business based in Southport.
Purchasing 20 – 30 components per day; as the Buyer / Materials Team Leader you’ll be…
*Identify new suppliers and engage with existing suppliers to ensure competitive costs and timescales are agreed and keeping documented records for these agreements
*Review the performance of suppliers regularly to identify issues and improve performance
*Use of the ERP/MRP system to forecast material requirements; monitor and control inventory levels and take regular stock takes
*Ensure quotations and purchase orders are processed in a timely manner to ensure prompt order turnaround and delivery, working from BOMs (Bill of Materials)
*Responsible for one member of staff (materials) – allocating their workload and acting as a mentor
This position would be ideal for someone who would describe themselves as a confident negotiator who is driven to cost save whilst providing quality products to their customers; and as someone who would lead by example. This is a busy working environment and will need someone organised who is able to constantly re-prioritise their tasks.
Salary, Hours & Benefits
*£30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending upon experience)
*39 Hour Week with core hours of 9am-4pm (8am earliest start, 6pm latest finish); min 30 min lunch and 2 x 15 min breaks
*Pension, 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays (additional 3 days flexi); quarterly newsletters and monthly outings as a team
