Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Classroom Tutor to support students aged 16-24 with additional needs, including social, emotional, and special educational needs (SEN). The role requires a passionate individual who is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students, particularly those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will play a key role in helping learners achieve their personal and academic goals while promoting their social and emotional development and enhancing their opportunity to progress into employment.
Skills and Qualifications Necessary
*Functional Skills level 2 in English Maths and ICT or equivalent
*Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload
*Experience working with young adults with additional needs, including those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
*Knowledge and experience in supporting students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
*Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and support both learners and employers.
*Experience in liaising with employers, ideally in securing work placements or apprenticeships.
*Confident in using Microsoft Office and other digital tools to manage documentation and communications.
*A full UK driving license is desirable as travel may be required within the local area
Day-to-day of the role
*Offer one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring they have the resources, guidance, and encouragement to succeed.
*Implement strategies from individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to support students’ specific needs and track their progress.
*Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
*Liaise with local authorities to identify and engage young people aged 16-24 who are eligible for work placements.
*Build and maintain relationships with local employers to secure and develop work experience opportunities.
*Work with employers to understand their requirements and match them with suitable learners based on skills and career goals.
*Promote the benefits of work placements to employers and provide guidance on how to effectively support young people in the workplace.
*Coordinate and manage the logistics of work placements, ensuring all necessary documentation, risk assessments, and agreements are completed.
*Provide ongoing support to both employers and learners during the placement period, addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
