Ribble Recruitment is supporting a London local authority to appoint an experienced Housing Options Team Manager to provide cover within a Triage & Prevention service during a period of long-term sickness.
This is a senior frontline management role with responsibility for statutory homelessness duties, prevention activity, performance management, and staff leadership.
The RoleYou will lead and manage a Triage & Prevention team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused housing options and homelessness prevention services in line with legislation, guidance, and best practice.
Working closely with senior managers, you will support service development, oversee complex casework, manage performance and budgets, and ensure the council meets its statutory homelessness duties.
Key Responsibilities*Manage and coordinate the Triage & Prevention Service, ensuring statutory duties are met under housing and homelessness legislation
*Lead, supervise, and develop a team of frontline officers, promoting high performance and continuous improvement
*Ensure early intervention and effective prevention to minimise homelessness and the use of temporary accommodation
*Oversee complex and high-risk cases, providing expert advice and decision-making
*Monitor performance against KPIs and service standards, implementing improvements where required
*Contribute to the development and implementation of homelessness strategies, policies, and service improvements
*Manage budgets and prevention funding in line with financial regulations and council procedures
*Respond to complaints, member enquiries, and correspondence to a high standard and within timescales
*Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal departments and external agencies
*Participate in duty rota arrangements and provide management cover as required
Essential Skills & Experience*Significant management experience within a frontline statutory housing or homelessness service
*Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
*Proven experience leading and developing teams in a high-demand, customer-facing environment
*Strong performance management, casework oversight, and service improvement experience
*Experience managing budgets, grants, and prevention funding
*Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills
*Ability to work within a political and performance-driven local authority environment
*Willingness to attend the office a minimum of 2 days per week, with flexibility when on duty
Qualifications*Educated to A-Level or equivalent professional experience
*Housing qualification and CIH membership desirable
*Subject to DBS clearance
