Trainee Tutor (SEND & Inclusion)Location: Newham, London
Job Type: Monday-Friday (Full-time or Part-time hours)
New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a Trainee Tutor to support children and young people with SEND and inclusion needs across Newham. This role is ideal for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in tutoring, SEND, or alternative education.
You will work 1:1 with learners who may have SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or who are disengaged or excluded from mainstream education. Sessions take place in community-based settings such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provisions.
Mandatory Training RequirementAll Trainee Tutors must complete a compulsory training programme before working independently:
*30–45 hours of structured training
*Learning modules, guided tasks, and assessed activities
*Covers SEND, SEMH, ADHD, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and nurture-led tutoring
*Ongoing support throughout training
Key Responsibilities*Deliver 1:1, nurture-led tutoring to children and young people
*Support engagement, emotional regulation, and learning progress
*Plan and adapt sessions in line with individual learning plans
*Build positive, trusting relationships with learners
*Monitor progress and communicate with families and professionals
*Work flexibly across community and alternative settings
RequirementsEssential*Patient, calm, and empathetic approach
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Willingness to complete the full 30–45 hour training programme
*Reliable and professional attitude
Desirable*Experience working with children or young people
*Experience with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or vulnerable learners
*Understanding of the UK curriculum
