A growing SME-focused insurer is seeking a New Business Trading Underwriter to join their expanding business. This role combines technical underwriting with new business generation across an existing broker panel and new brokers. Personality, relationship-building, and commercial awareness are key to success.
Key Responsibilities:
*Underwrite SME risks with technical accuracy and commercial awareness
*Develop and grow relationships with existing and new brokers
*Support business growth through effective risk assessment and trading decisions
*Contribute to underwriting strategy and performance improvements
*Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth new business placement
Requirements:
*Proven underwriting experience within SME/commercial lines
*Strong technical knowledge and ability to assess risk
*Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
*Commercially minded with a proactive approach
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding business
Location & Working:
*3 days in the office - London City or Kent
*Hybrid/flexible working options
Salary & Benefits:
*Circa £70,000 depending on experience
