DA Refuge Manager
Salary: £30,868 per annum
Location: Leicester
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday


About the Role
We are recruiting a DA Refuge Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a 24-hour refuge providing safe, trauma-informed and culturally sensitive accommodation and support to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.
This is a senior, hands-on management role requiring strong leadership, safeguarding expertise, and experience of working within domestic abuse services.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage the day-to-day delivery of a 24-hour refuge service
*Line manage, supervise and support staff, including rotas, performance management and training
*Oversee complex casework including safeguarding, child protection and emergency response
*Ensure high-quality, person-centred and culturally appropriate support for residents
*Monitor budgets, reporting requirements and compliance with funding contracts
*Provide practical and emotional support to residents including housing, benefits, legal and immigration issues
*Work in partnership with local authorities, statutory agencies and voluntary sector organisations
*Participate in an out-of-hours and on-call management rota
*Ensure health, safety, safeguarding and security procedures are followed
*Deliver presentations and engage with external stakeholders as required
About You
You will be an experienced manager with a strong background in domestic abuse or related support services. You will be confident managing staff teams, handling complex safeguarding situations, and working within a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
Essential Criteria
*Substantial experience working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse
*Experience working with individuals from diverse communities, including those facing multiple disadvantages
*Minimum three years’ experience in a care, social welfare, housing or related setting
*Proven experience of managing, supervising and supporting staff
*Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant UK legislation
*Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
*Ability to work flexibly, including nights and out-of-hours when required
*Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
*Enhanced DBS check
Desirable
*Experience working within BME or specialist community services
*Ability to communicate in an additional community language
*Experience delivering training or awareness sessions
*Knowledge of complex needs such as No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), mental health, substance misuse, forced marriage, honour-based abuse or FGM
*First Aid qualification
