Job Description:
The Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community-focused Engagement & Development Lead to help drive awareness of gambling-related harm and strengthen support pathways across the North East. You will build partnerships with local organisations, develop community networks, and lead outreach activity including public events, drop-ins, campaigns and training sessions. A key part of the role is equipping professionals, community members and partners with the knowledge to identify gambling harms and signpost individuals to the National Gambling Treatment Service. You’ll also provide brief interventions, deliver advice in a range of settings and contribute to reporting, project planning and ongoing service development.
The Role
*Lead community outreach across the North East to raise awareness of gambling-related harm.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, professionals and partners.
*Promote the service through events, drop-ins, campaigns, and wider engagement activities.
*Deliver training to equip communities to identify gambling harms and understand referral routes.
*Develop and support a network of Community Champions within local communities.
*Provide brief and extended brief interventions, offering advice, support and signposting.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local services and map community networks.
*Support project planning, reporting and service development while ensuring safeguarding and compliance standards are met.
The Person
You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent presentation and facilitation skills, able to engage a wide range of audiences and build strong relationships with community partners. Experience in outreach, training delivery, safeguarding, stakeholder engagement and working with vulnerable people is essential. You’ll be highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently across multiple locations. A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field—such as health and social care, community work, education or mental health—is required, along with the ability to travel across the region.

*Experienced in community outreach, engagement work, or delivering training.
*Confident engaging diverse community groups and building strong partnerships.
*Able to work independently, manage a varied caseload and plan outreach activities.
*Comfortable working with vulnerable people and providing brief interventions.
*Highly organised with strong IT skills and accurate record-keeping.
*Knowledgeable about safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection.
*Holds a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field and able to travel across the region.
