Elevation Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join a leading industrial machinery manufacturer, based in Sheffield. Reporting to the Proposal Services Manager, you will play a key role within the Proposal Services team, delivering high-quality technical and commercial proposals for complex capital projects.
This role will see you leading and coordinating technical proposals for projects typically valued between £2m–£30m, working closely with an experienced in-house, multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure bids are delivered on time, to specification, and aligned with commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities * Lead and support the preparation of technical proposals for new and succession bids, collaborating closely with Sales Managers, Technical/Bid Leaders, and global engineering teams.

* Coordinate the timely submission of high-quality technical documentation in line with bid schedules and internal governance.

* Develop standard and bespoke technical solutions, balancing quality, cost, and timescales.

* Monitor and report on pre-project milestones, engineering man-hours, and bid-related budgets.

* Support the coordination of engineering resources and merchant account budgets during the pre-contract phase.

* Liaise with suppliers to identify and select the most cost-effective systems and equipment.

* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support successful bids and future business opportunities.

About You You will be a technically capable engineer with experience supporting or leading proposals within a project-based engineering environment, ideally within Special Purpose Machinery. You will bring a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and be confident communicating across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skills & Knowledge * Experience in a technical engineering role with exposure to technical sales or bid support.

* Strong understanding of the engineering project lifecycle, from sales through to installation and commissioning.

* Ability to contribute effectively to proposal decision-making and business planning discussions.

* Confident communicator with the ability to liaise at all levels.

* Proficiency in engineering design tools, including 2D and 3D CAD software.

* Good working knowledge of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales, and R&D functions.

* Strong IT and business systems capability.

* Commercial awareness and understanding of competitor activity.

Experience Required Essential:
* Experience in a similar technical proposals or engineering role within industrial machinery.

* Extensive experience of engineering design across the full project lifecycle.

* Proven ability to actively contribute to proposal strategy and decision-making.
