Job Description:
Housing Options Officer*Pay Rate: £17.09 - £19.07 per hour (PAYE)
*Location: Maidenhead, SL6
*Job Type: Hybrid (1 day per week in office)
*Contract Type: Temporary Contract until May 2026 (Subject to change)
Join our team as a Housing Options Officer, where you will address housing issues, provide expert advice, and deliver solutions to prevent homelessness. This role is crucial in executing our statutory responsibilities and ensuring high customer satisfaction within the Royal Borough.
Day-to-day of the role:*Deliver first-class customer service by providing suitable housing solutions and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
*Provide advice on housing options and homelessness prevention in person, by phone, and online.
*Conduct outreach visits to various locations such as homes, prisons, and hospitals as per documented procedures.
*Assess homelessness applications and make decisions on temporary accommodation placements.
*Offer expert advice to stakeholders and customers, particularly in the private rented sector, to prevent homelessness.
*Investigate landlord/tenant disputes and prepare prosecution files if necessary.
*Manage a personal caseload, maintain detailed records, and meet performance targets.
*Update and record information accurately and timely in line with guidance and established procedures.
*Respond to enquiries and complaints, and draft responses as required.
*Deliver training and awareness sessions to stakeholders and colleagues.
*Play a key role in securing the best possible outcomes for the delivery of affordable housing from S.106 agreements through an understanding of viability assessments and collaboration with our in-house legal team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:*Minimum education of A-level/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent; Housing Qualification attained or currently being studied is preferred.
*Extensive experience in housing needs, local authority lettings, or a similar environment.
*Proven ability to manage difficult situations while remaining calm, friendly, and professional.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Experience of analysing data and information and presenting it in formal reports.
*Ability to travel efficiently around the Borough; clean driving licence is desirable.
