Job Responsibilities
*You will prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all accounts.
*You will maintain and update the fixed asset register, tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules in line with organisational policies.
*You will manage VAT returns using the partial exemption special method agreed for charities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and supporting audit requirements.
*You will collaborate closely with cost centre managers to produce detailed month-end reports, including accruals, prepayments, and cost centre analysis for support services.
*You will interrogate large volumes of financial data using advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIFS to identify discrepancies and drive improvements.
*You will utilise DocuWare and QL systems to process financial transactions efficiently and accurately, maintaining robust documentation for all entries.
*You will support business partnering activities by providing insightful financial analysis and recommendations to key stakeholders throughout the organisation.
Experience Required
*You have at least two to three years’ experience in a similar assistant accountant or reporting accountant role within a medium or large organisation.
*Your background includes hands-on responsibility for preparing balance sheet reconciliations and managing fixed asset registers.
*You possess practical experience completing VAT returns using partial exemption methods specific to charities or not-for-profit entities.
