Job Title: Support Worker – Day Services
Location: Calderdale (Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Rastrick)
Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour
Contract: 12 months temp (potential extension up to 18 months)
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week), Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00. Part-time considered if full days can be worked (cannot be worked around wake nights rota)
About the Role
Calderdale Day Services are undergoing a major remodelling and review. Due to a recruitment freeze and reduced staffing levels, services have fallen below safe staffing requirements, resulting in cancellations. To maintain service delivery during this transitional period, we are seeking experienced Support Workers to join our Care and Support team.
This is a temporary role (12–18 months) while the future model of day services is defined. It offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference and become part of a dedicated, diverse team.


What You’ll Do


Provide care and support to older people, including those living with dementia and complex needs.
Work across three centres (Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Rastrick), with the majority of support at Rastrick and Halifax.
Deliver personal care, emotional support, and engaging activities to keep service users active and involved.
Respond to changing allocations daily based on staffing needs.
Ensure safety and wellbeing through risk awareness and safeguarding practices.




Essential Skills & Experience


Previous experience in community care, residential care, or supported living.
Training in moving and handling, safeguarding, infection prevention.
Dementia awareness and ability to manage challenging needs.
Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks.


Desirable:


NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care.
Clinical experience (not necessarily as a registered nurse).
Driving licence.
