Job Description:
Our client, a prestigious College in Cambridge, has an opportunity for a qualified plumber/heating engineer to join their maintenance department.
Plumber / Heating Engineer
Location: Cambridge, CB2 (and all property owned by the College in and around Cambridge)
Salary: £35,475 - £39,754 per annum (Points 38 – 42 on the University’s single pay spine)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 36.5 hours per week
The post-holder will take responsibility for planning and executing all plumbing and associated work on this College’s site and at their associated external properties in and around Cambridge. For a conscientious professional with the appropriate skills and who enjoys a challenge, this role offers the scope to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the College’s unique buildings.
The maintenance team is a team of eight (including this post), led by the Maintenance Manager, and the work is varied over a broad range of historical buildings. As well as being responsible for all the plumbing and heating requirements, the role entails keeping up to date with the on-line fault reporting system, liaising with contract tradesmen, responding to urgent jobs including being available for emergency callouts on an agreed basis and supporting the overall work of the department.
This employer would like to hear from you if you have an NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating and previous experience in domestic plumbing systems. Gas Safe CCN1 and CENWAT certification would be an advantage but not essential.
About the Employer
With buildings dating to the 17th Century, this College has both old and modern spaces and facilities and every day will bring something interesting.
The benefits on offer are many and include 33 days’ annual leave pro rata (including bank holidays), a defined contribution pension scheme with 6% (minimum) employer contribution, a health care cash plan funded by the College (allowing you to claim money for routine medical treatments including dental and optical), a free meal when on duty, and the opportunity to work in a beautiful environment. Facilities on-site include a College gym, multi-faith prayer room, outdoor swimming pool and limited parking.
