Head of People / Head of HR Location: Liverpool (Hybrid)
Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
A well-established professional services firm based in Liverpool is seeking to appoint a Head of People / Head of HR to lead its people function.
This is a single senior role, with the job title, seniority and salary determined by the experience and capability of the successful candidate. The organisation actively promotes personal development and is therefore open to a broad talent pool, including experienced HR Managers who are ready to step into their first head-of-function role but have limited progression opportunities in their current environment.
The Role This is a senior leadership position combining strategic people leadership with hands-on operational HR delivery. You will operate as a trusted advisor to Partners, while remaining visible and engaged across the organisation.
The scope of the role will be shaped around the successful candidate, with flexibility to lean more towards either strategic people leadership or operational HR management, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities * Lead and develop the HR / People function
* Provide trusted advisory support to senior stakeholders and Partners
* Manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinaries and grievances
* Ensure compliance with UK employment law and internal HR policies
* Support business growth through recruitment and workforce planning
* Succession planning, talent development and career progression frameworks
* Learning & Development strategy and delivery
* Performance management, engagement and organisational culture
* Wellbeing, EDI and inclusion initiatives
* Ownership of HR systems and people metrics (CIPHR recently implemented)
* Support accreditations and wider compliance activity
* Maintain a hands-on approach where required
About You * Proven senior HR experience, or an established HR Manager ready to step up
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
* Confident influencing and advising senior stakeholders
* Commercially minded, personable and credible in face-to-face settings
* Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with operational delivery
* Experience within professional services or a regulated environment would be advantageous
Team & Reporting * Reporting directly to a Partner
* Managing an experienced HR Executive
Working Arrangements * Full-time, permanent role
* Liverpool Head Office with hybrid working
