Purchase Ledger Assistant
*Location: Chelmsford
*Job Type: Full-time
Our client is currently seeking a detail-oriented and organised Purchase Ledger Assistant to support their finance team in Chelmsford. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate supplier records, ensuring timely payments, and supporting the smooth operation of our finance functions.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Register, code, and authorise supplier invoices in accordance with company procedures.
*Process supplier credit notes and manage cancellations of debit entries as required.
*Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier account records.
*Manage supplier invoice queries, including raising debit notes and chasing outstanding credits.
*Liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies promptly and professionally.
*Support reconciliation of supplier statements as needed.
*Prepare and raise supplier payment runs in line with agreed schedules and controls.
*Ensure payments are accurate, timely, and authorised under the guidance of the Purchase Ledger Manager.
*Liaise with branch teams to investigate and resolve internal invoice queries.
*Assist with processing incoming and outgoing finance-related post.
*Provide general administrative support to the purchase ledger and finance team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role is essential.
*Understanding of basic accounting principles and supplier payment processes.
*Strong attention to detail with the ability to record information accurately.
*Clear and professional communication skills for dealing with suppliers and colleagues.
*Numerate and comfortable working with financial data.
*Well-organised, capable of managing routine tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.
*Positive, professional attitude, willing to learn and develop skills with training provided.
*Ability to work cooperatively, supporting branches and the wider business.
