SEMH Mentor – Sulhamstead
This amazing school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Mentor to join its growing team, supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is driven, nurturing, and committed to making a meaningful difference in pupils’ lives.
About the School
This is a specialist environment that provides personalised learning for pupils aged 7–16 who require a therapeutic and supportive approach. The school prides itself on creating a safe, stable, and empowering setting where every learner is encouraged to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
About the Trust
The school is part of a well-established and highly respected organisation that provides education, care, and therapeutic services for children with additional needs. The trust is known for its child-centred values, strong safeguarding culture, and commitment to professional development. Staff benefit from collaborative working, specialist training, and an environment where their wellbeing and career progression are taken seriously.
The Role
The SEMH Mentor will:
*Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils to help them regulate, engage, and succeed.
*Support pupils both in the classroom and through targeted 1:1 or small-group interventions.
*Work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to deliver holistic support.
*Encourage resilience, self-esteem, emotional management, and social development.
*Contribute to behaviour support plans and personalised strategies.
*Model calm, consistency, and empathy in challenging situations.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in education, youth work, residential care, or therapeutic support—but the trust welcomes applicants from diverse professional backgrounds who demonstrate the right values and a passion for helping young people.
What the School Offers
*A supportive, trauma-informed environment.
*Ongoing CPD and access to specialist therapeutic training.
*Clear career development pathways across the trust.
*A warm, collaborative staff team who prioritise pupil wellbeing.
Who They’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
*Patient, resilient, and calm under pressure.
*Able to form strong, supportive relationships with pupils.
*Passionate about SEMH practice and trauma-informed approaches.
*A reflective practitioner who values growth and teamwork.
*Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
