Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and competent Environmental Health Officer to join our team in Reading for a temporary full-time position lasting approximately 10 weeks. This role involves carrying out food hygiene and food standards inspections within a busy urban borough, ensuring compliance and addressing any enforcement issues.
*Location: Bridge Street, Reading
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary until the end of May 2026
*Salary: £55 per hour Umbrella
*This is not a hybrid role, the role requires physical inspections to be carried out on site in Reading
Day-to-day of the role:*Conduct thorough food hygiene inspections across a range of premises, including those rated A-E and unrated.
*Perform food standards inspections in catering premises, utilising the new risk rating model.
*Handle enforcement issues effectively, including the service of notices.
*Address health and safety issues that may arise during routine inspections.
*Spend the majority of the workday on-site, conducting physical inspections, with some desk time for administrative tasks and write-ups.
*Utilise our current database systems, Arcus/Salesforce, for recording and managing inspection data.
Required Skills & Qualifications:*Demonstrable qualifications and competence under the FLCOP (Food Law Code of Practice).
*Proven experience in conducting a full range of food hygiene inspections.
*Skilled in dealing with food standards and enforcement issues in catering premises.
*Familiarity with health and safety protocols during inspections.
*Experience with Arcus/Salesforce or similar database systems is beneficial.
*Ability to work independently and manage inspection schedules effectively.
*Driving licence is not essential but may be beneficial.
