Job Description:
A vibrant and forward-thinking organisation is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Management Accountant to join their expanding finance team in Watford! This is your chance to step into a highly visible role where you will make a real difference, supporting the Financial Controller shaping the financial future of a renowned business. With a fantastic salary of £65,000 and flexible working arrangements.
What you’ll do:
As a Management Accountant, you’ll dive into a diverse range of tasks that are central to keeping this dynamic organisation running smoothly. Your days will be filled with engaging projects-from managing key accounting functions like revenue recognition and fixed asset tracking to preparing statutory accounts and supporting intercompany reporting. You’ll work hand-in-hand with talented colleagues across departments to deliver precise financial information that drives operational excellence and strategic growth. Your knack for building positive relationships will shine as you share valuable insights on venue performance and champion continuous improvements. To excel here, bring your passion for detail, superb organisational skills, and readiness to adapt as priorities shift-your efforts will be celebrated as part of a truly collaborative team.
*Take overall responsibility for weekly takings sheets and revenue recognition across UK venues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
*Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee capital expenditure reporting, providing clear insights into asset management for senior stakeholders.
*Manage corporate overhead accounting and forecasting processes, supporting effective budgeting and cost control initiatives throughout the business.
*Review monthly revenue figures and venue profit & loss statements, identifying trends and areas for improvement to support strategic decision-making.
*Prepare statutory accounts in line with regulatory requirements, collaborating closely with external auditors during annual reviews.
*Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations including gift cards, deferred revenue, and stock accounts to ensure financial integrity.
*Handle all aspects of intercompany accounting for UK entities, facilitating accurate reporting between group companies.
What you bring:
Your journey as a Management Accountant has equipped you with an impressive track record of delivering top-notch financial results within complex organisations. You bring more than just technical expertise-you’re known for your warm interpersonal style that helps build trust-based connections across teams. Dependability is your hallmark: you’re always organised, responsive, sensitive to others’ needs, and committed to upholding high standards of accuracy. While experience in retail or leisure is a plus, what truly sets you apart is your eagerness to share knowledge generously with colleagues while embracing fresh challenges. Your dedication to continuous learning ensures you stay adaptable-and ready-to grow alongside this thriving business.
*Hold a recognised professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA (qualified status required), demonstrating your solid foundation in technical accounting principles.
*Possess strong IT skills with advanced proficiency in Excel including use of complex formulas for data analysis and reporting purposes.
*Show excellent interpersonal and communication abilities that enable you to connect effectively with colleagues across finance and non-finance teams alike.
*Display enthusiasm for customer service by responding promptly to queries from internal stakeholders while maintaining a positive attitude.
*Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to daily demands within a growing business environment where priorities can shift quickly.
*Exhibit outstanding organisational discipline when working remotely or independently without direct supervision.
*Bring a sense of urgency to your work by managing deadlines efficiently during busy periods such as month-end close or audit cycles.
*Have proven experience-ideally 2+ years-in either practice or industry settings; experience within retail or leisure sectors is highly desirable but not essential.
*Experience using SAP S4 is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn new systems is important.
*Commitment to ongoing professional development through training opportunities or self-directed learning initiatives.
