Assistant Finance Officer EVH Grade 6 | £31,238 - £34,855 | Glasgow
The role I’m working with a Glasgow based Housing Association who is looking for a temporary Assistant Finance Officer to support the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality finance service across the Association and its subsidiaries.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid housing or public sector finance experience who enjoys transactional finance, reconciliations, and supporting the wider finance function.
What you’ll be doing You’ll be part of a small, supportive Finance and Corporate Services team, with responsibility for core finance processes including:
*Managing the purchase ledger for the Association and subsidiaries
*Preparing monthly accruals and prepayments
*Completing balance sheet reconciliations
*Supporting management accounts and budget preparation
*Monitoring control and suspense accounts, including insurance
*Debtor control and rechargeable repairs
*Maintaining the nominal ledger
*Liaising with suppliers, insurers, auditors, and internal teams
You’ll also contribute to improving finance processes and provide general administrative support where required.
What we’re looking for Essential
*Prior experience in a finance assistant or assistant finance officer role
*Strong understanding of purchase ledger and reconciliations
*Confidence working with financial systems and Excel
*A professional, reliable approach with good attention to detail
Desirable
*Experience within housing, local authority, or a regulated environment
*Exposure to management accounts or year-end processes
*Knowledge of housing finance systems
