Housing Options Officer – £250 per day (Inside IR35)
Full-time | 12-week assignment | 3 days per week in the office
Start: ASAP
Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their busy team on a full-time basis for an initial 12-week assignment. This is a vital frontline role focused on preventing and relieving homelessness and supporting some of the area’s most vulnerable households.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload within either the Single Homeless Pathway or the Families Pathway, carrying out assessments, providing advice and working proactively to secure safe and sustainable housing solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
*Completing homelessness assessments and investigations in line with Housing Act 1996 Part 7, case law and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
*Assessing housing needs and creating Personal Housing Plans
*Working to prevent homelessness wherever possible, including helping households sustain existing accommodation
*Arranging planned moves into suitable housing when required
*Presenting cases for temporary accommodation where emergency placements are necessary
*Working closely with statutory partners, support agencies, and internal teams to achieve the best outcomes for service users
*Supporting individuals and families with complex needs, such as mental health issues, substance misuse, domestic abuse, or multiple vulnerabilities
*Keeping accurate case notes and issuing formal decision letters
*Negotiating with landlords, friends/family, and other parties to secure realistic housing solutions
About You
You’ll need:
*Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing law
*Experience within a local authority or housing association housing options/homelessness service
*Ability to make sound decisions under the Housing Act and produce Section 184 decision letters
*Excellent interviewing, negotiation and communication skills
*Empathy, resilience, and professionalism when working with vulnerable clients
*Experience managing complex caseloads and developing effective Personal Housing Plans
Additional Information
*Pay: £250 per day
*Working pattern: Full-time, with 3 days per week in the office
*Duration: 12 weeks (extension possible)
