Job Description:
Join our Exchequer Services team within the Financial Management directorate, where you will play a crucial role in managing the Council’s transactional financial activities. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a detailed-oriented, secure, and legislative-compliant environment.
Exchequer Finance Officer
*Hourly Pay: £15.43
*Location: Corporate Core – Financial Management, Exchequer Services
*Job Type: Full-time
Day-to-day of the role:
*Maintain and update vendor records, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date.
*Produce financial reports and management information to support decision-making across the Council.
*Investigate and resolve any payment or income discrepancies to maintain financial integrity.
*Administer receipts and process income data efficiently.
*Monitor and manage suspense accounts to ensure all funds are correctly allocated.
*Carry out account reconciliations to confirm the accuracy of financial records.
*Provide exceptional customer service support to both internal teams and external partners.
*Deliver training to other team members on relevant processes and systems to ensure consistency and efficiency across the service.
*Use multiple IT systems to process, interrogate, and manage data, contributing to ongoing improvements in processes and systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in financial management or a similar role, preferably within a public sector environment.
*Strong ability to use various IT systems for data management and financial processing.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to produce accurate financial reports and perform account reconciliations.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to provide training and support to other team members.
*A proactive and flexible approach to meet service demands and uphold high standards.
