Job Description:
Freight Development Specialist
Location: Bradford
Job Type: Full-time
Join our Bradford-based client as a Freight Development Specialist within their Development Team, where you will play a key role in preparing quotes and managing shipments to international destinations. Reporting directly to the Road Development Manager, you will be integral to ensuring smooth operations and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Receive and process quotation requests from clients or agents for international cargo shipments.
*Utilize tariffs, haulier lists, and supplier portals to gather costing information, or liaise directly with suppliers and carriers to secure the best shipment prices.
*Ensure all quotations to clients include BIFA Terms and Conditions.
*Conduct courtesy calls and follow-ups with clients to confirm competitiveness of quotes and secure shipment bookings.
*Coordinate with operational staff to ensure seamless handover and execution of bookings, including clear instructions and agreed rates.
*Promptly address and escalate any issues related to customers, costs, or freight activities to management to ensure quick resolution and maintain excellent client and partner relationships
*Foster excellent customer relationships to convert quotes into bookings and ensure high-quality service delivery.
*Negotiate effectively to secure the best service rates, making our company the preferred choice for freight forwarding.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including hauliers and shipping lines, to ensure favourable terms and professional service for our clients.
*Proactively engage with new and existing customers to explore additional service opportunities and maintain visibility in the market
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proactive and able to use initiative and common sense in decision-making.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
*Effective negotiation skills with both customers and suppliers.
*Flexibility and willingness to engage in various aspects of the business.
*Experience in freight forwarding or a similar logistics role is highly advantageous.
