Your new role
Working on a major project in Cambridge, they require a Design Manager to join the project team. This is a high-profile scheme with complex technical requirements, with that they are seeking someone who can bring strong initiative, solid construction knowledge, and consistent professionalism to the role.As Design Manager you will play a key part in coordinating, managing, and driving the design process across multiple subcontract packages, ensuring high-quality delivery, smooth stakeholder engagement, and alignment with programme, cost, and technical objectives.
Packages to include:
*Concrete Substructure & Superstructure
*Brickwork & Blockwork
*Roof Steelwork
*Roofing & Waterproofing
*Lifts
*Landscaping / External Works / S278

Key Responsibilities:
*Lead and manage the design development of multiple specialist subcontract packages.
*Drive technical coordination and resolve design issues proactively and collaboratively.
*Ensure compliance with project requirements and statutory standards.
*Work closely with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain design progress and quality.
*Facilitate clear and confident stakeholder engagement, always demonstrating integrity, diligence, and finesse.
*Support design reviews, technical workshops, approval processes, and change management.
*Contribute to continuous improvement and help maintain a strong team culture on the project.

What you’ll need to succeed
*Strong technical understanding of construction design and build processes.
*A proven ability to manage multiple subcontractor design packages concurrently.
*Excellent communication skills and confident stakeholder engagement.
*A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
*High levels of integrity, reliability, and professional judgement.
*Experience on large, complex commercial or mixed-use projects (preferred).
