Accounts Assistant (FTC – 11-Month Maternity Cover)
Location: Slough
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
Hybrid Working: 3 days from home once handover is complete
Are you an organised, detail-driven finance professional looking for a friendly, supportive team where you can make a real impact? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join us on an 11-month maternity cover contract.
Working closely with our Finance Controller, you’ll play a key role in keeping our accounts running smoothly, with a focus on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations. If you enjoy variety, take pride in accuracy, and like being the go-to person for colleagues and suppliers, this could be a great fit.
We currently use Sage 50 and are transitioning to PeopleSoft. Experience with PeopleSoft is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided, and you’ll have a thorough handover with our current Accounts Assistant.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Issuing sales invoices and following up on outstanding balances (AR)
*Processing supplier invoices and staff expenses, and preparing payment runs (AP)
*Building strong relationships with suppliers and resolving queries
*Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
*Supporting month-end procedures and reporting
*Assisting with ad-hoc finance and administrative tasks
*Acting as a friendly point of contact for finance queries across the business
What We’re Looking For
*Previous experience in a similar finance role
*Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
*Confident with MS Excel and comfortable using accounting software
*A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
*A team player who enjoys working with people
