Subject Access Requests Processor
*Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Hybrid)
*Location: Lloyd Street, Manchester, M60 2LA
*Duration: 3 months
*Pay: £17.60 per hour PAYE
*Working Hours: 9am till 4:30pm
Manchester City Council are seeking a Subject Access Requests Processor to join their Performance, Research, and Intelligence service. This role is crucial for handling Subject Access Requests (SARs) in compliance with information rights legislation, ensuring a balance of timeliness and accuracy. Candidates must have prior experience in processing Subject Access Requests.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Receive and log SARs from service users, staff, or authorised representatives, maintaining accurate audit trails using digital systems.
*Act as a point of contact for service representatives, providing advice on the process and expected timescales.
*Prepare Neighbourhood directorate files for access by data subjects or their representatives under the terms of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
*Ensure files are prepared to a high standard, meeting GDPR requirements and timescales, including appropriate redaction of third-party data.
*Review all information in paper and/or electronic files to ascertain its appropriateness for release to the data subject.
*Perform necessary redactions following legislative requirements to protect the information rights of the data subject and others.
*Process all information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR, and the Council’s governance requirements.
*Escalate complex or sensitive requests to senior colleagues or the Information Governance team as needed.
*Maintain strict confidentiality when handling personal and sensitive information.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in handling Subject Access Requests.
*Strong understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
*Excellent organisational skills with the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
*Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
*Strong communication skills, capable of providing clear advice on complex legal matters.
*Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
