Job Description:
HR Consultant
*Hourly Rate: £24.46 to £26.62 (PAYE) / £31.93 to £34.79 (Umbrella)
*Location: Sheffield
*Job Type: Contract
Join a dynamic local authority as an HR Consultant, where you will be a senior HR professional providing expert advice and support across various departments regarding Employee Relations. This role is crucial in shaping and delivering HR services that enhance organisational change, employee relations, and strategic development.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Deliver professional HR advice and consultancy to managers across the council.
*Support complex or high-risk HR cases and formal procedures.
*Lead and contribute to organisational change projects.
*Develop and implement HR policies and strategies.
*Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives across the council.
*Manage job grading and employee engagement initiatives.
*Work closely with trade unions and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive labour relations.
*Provide clear, accessible HR guidance and communication to all staff levels.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Complex grievances
*Dispute resolution
*Working with unions
*Working at scale (managing 30–50 cases)
*Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of effectively articulating HR policies and strategies.
*Collaborative and adaptable working style, able to work effectively in diverse team settings.
*Strategic thinker with robust planning abilities, able to foresee and address HR needs in alignment with council objectives.
*Resilient and capable of delivering under pressure, maintaining high standards in complex situations.
*Customer-focused approach, ensuring that HR services meet the needs of the council and its employees.
*Commitment to fairness, equality, and continuous improvement in all HR practices.
