Job Description:
Hostel Support Worker
Salary: £31,549 per annum
Full time onsite permanent role
37.5 hours per week on a Monday to Sunday rota basis.
Shifts between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Based Richmond upon Thames
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Hostel Support Worker will be responsible for the provision of hostel-based services and the effective coordination of support to rough sleepers with complex needs. You’ll discover a passionate, supportive environment where the entire team works toward the same goals and is dedicated to making positive change and producing great results.
Key responsibilities:
• To provide an effective client-led service for allocated residents throughout their tenancy.
• Ensure residents can access specialist services as needed, using both internal and external resources.
• Develop meaningful rapport with clients to facilitate the best possible outcomes.
• Optimise rental income and minimise arrears.
• Carry out data entry and risk assessments as required.
• Maintain a working knowledge of local external service providers.
• Record all activities accurately in individual client files on the database.
• Conduct assessments and provide casework for clients seeking support or resettlement, ensuring services are integrated.
• Support processes in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures, including induction, supervision appraisal and audits.
• Undertake other duties as your line manager may require in keeping with the responsibilities of the role.
Person Specification:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organise and prioritise a varied workload.
• Proficient in IT, including word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail, with the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.
• Relevant experience working with homeless people or rough sleepers.
• Knowledge of support systems and services available to people experiencing homelessness.
• Ability to work with clients presenting challenging behaviour and may have complex needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating using initiative.
• The ability to represent company appropriately in all situations and to work professionally with external agencies.
• Understanding of providing equal opportunities and inclusive practice.
