Job Description:
Temporary Employment Lawyer – Wembley-Based Local Authority
Rate: £29.47 per hour
Contract: Until May 2026 (with potential for extension)
Location: Wembley (Hybrid working may be available subject to organisational policy)
Are you an experienced Employment Lawyer ready to make an immediate impact within a busy, high-profile public sector environment? We’re looking for a confident legal professional with strong technical expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
The Role
Joining a well-regarded local authority legal team, you will handle a varied and fast-paced workload covering all aspects of UK employment law. Key responsibilities include:
*Managing a full Employment Tribunal (ET) caseload from start to finish
*Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice to HR teams, service managers, schools, and academies
*Leading on complex matters involving TUPE, organisational change, and employee relations
*Supporting the council to deliver fair, compliant and robust employment decision-making
What We’re Looking For
*Qualified Barrister, Solicitor, or Chartered Legal Executive
*Strong, demonstrable knowledge of UK employment law
*Extensive experience in TUPE matters and managing ET litigation
*Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to communicate legal issues in a practical, accessible way
Desirable Experience
*Previous work within a local authority (advantageous but not essential)
*Experience operating in a large, regulated industry with complex governance structures
