HOUSING FIRST OFFICER
Southwark Council has delivered a Housing First service since 2017. The service is targeted as persons experiencing multiple exclusion homelessness - often CHAIN-verified rough sleepers or persons dwelling in hostels.
The post-holder will be an experienced practitioner from the homelessness/rough sleeping sector - ideally with prior experience of working in a Housing First team or very similar service setting.
The role requires peripatetic working across the borough at office sites, private homes, and other locations.
The post-holder will need to be skilled at building rapport with persons impacted by multiple exclusion homelessness, with a deep knowledge of trauma-informed/psychologically-informed approaches, adult safeguarding, tenancy sustainment, risk assessment, inter-agency boundaries, and knowledge about how to navigate a range of support services/interventions (e.g. welfare benefits, substance misuse, mental health).
The post-holder will work within a small team, hold a caseload, and need to have excellent case note recording skills and the ability to use IT systems.
The working pattern is core business hours Monday to Friday.
